The Ateneo Debate Society (ADS) is pleased to invite your institution to take part in the largest and most prestigious gathering of the country’s brightest high school public speakers and debaters in the Philippines.
The Philippine Schools Debate Championship (PSDC), now on its 7th year, will be held on November 4-9, 2008 at the Ateneo de Manila University. This truly national event brings together high school debaters from all over the country to compete in several rounds of British Parliamentary debate. The unparalleled credibility of the PSDC has made the tournament the sole basis for determining the eligibility of members of the Philippine Team to the World Schools Debate Championships.
The PSDC is an important element of the Philippine Debate Development Program, a key project of the ADS. The ADS, ranked as one of the Top Ten debate societies in the World, is Asia’s most-awarded debate institution. This experience and expertise guarantees that the PSDC will provide world-class adjudication and the best debate experience for students. Through this program, the ADS aims to establish a vibrant debate culture locally and to further strengthen our country’s reputation for debate excellence and leadership. With this commitment to debate development, the ADS hopes to develop not only excellent debaters – more importantly, we hope to develop excellent critical thinkers among our country’s future leaders.
In line with this, we are inviting you to participate in this event by sending representatives from your institution to compete with some of the best high school debaters and public speakers from all over the country. Registration fees for the tournament will be P2,300.00 for stay-out delegates and P 3,000.00 for stay-in delegates. Together with this invitation you will find all the important tournament information as well as a copy of all the pertinent forms that will need to be filled out by all potential participants of the tournament.
